Close to 10,000 face masks will be distributed by the Office of Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo Z. Duterte on Monday, February 3.
Distribution areas would be the Davao International Airport, Ecoland Bus Terminal, Southern Philippines Medical Center, City Hall, Sangguniang Panlungsod and barangay halls of the 54 barangays within the First District.
Distribution will be held simultaneously in all of the identified areas and would start at nine in the morning.
Rep. Duterte said that their activity is in line with the growing clamor of the Dabawenyos for face masks considering that several stores have stopped selling the merchandise due to very high demand.
“Tabang namo ni sa atong mga igsuong Dabawenyo tungod kay daghan ang wala nay mapalit nga face masks tungod aning Coronavirus scare,” Rep. Duterte said.
The presidential son however clarified that they do not want to fuel the mass hysteria and just wanted to provide what his constituents have been clamoring for.
“Para na lang pud na mahapsay ilang huna-huna ug di na mamroblema asa mupalit ug face mask. But we also wanted to advice the public not to panic. What is important is we maintain proper hygiene. Mask alone would not protect us from any virus if we do not observe proper hygiene. Wash your hands regularly and make sure your environment is clean,” the young congressman said.
Davao City has not yet recorded any positive case of novel Coronavirus. Several persons are however being monitored after suffering from flu-like symptoms.
