City of Mati Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat gave cash incentives to the nine athletes who won medals in the recently concluded 2019 Batang Pinoy National Games in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

In a courtesy call to the City Mayor Office on Thursday, September 5, the nine medalists and their coaches presented to Mayor Michelle the 2 silver medals and 5 bronze medals the City of Mati delegates won.

The silver medalists were Maria Jaden Orquia and Jonamil Prado of tennis, and Merry Joy Tero of the 400-meter hurdle.

Bronze medalists were James Lemente and Ian Calub of Taekwondo, Filmorn Gorospe of Karatedo, Cyhrea Ruth Atog of chess, and Maria Jaden Orquia and Jonamil Prado of tennis.

Mayor Michelle lauded the young athletes for a job well done despite the fact that there were only 23 athletes and 9 coaches in the City of Mati’s delegation participating only in athletics, lawn tennis, chess, karatedo, taekwondo and sepak takraw.

Mayor Michelle hopes that in the years to come, with the proper support from the city government, the City of Mati athletes would be more productive and win more medals. The mayor assured the athletes that next year there will be more support coming from the city government under her administration. (CIO MATI)
