President Rodrigo Duterte appointed former Boy Scout of the Philippines National President Wendel Avisado as acting secretary of the Department of Budget Management.
Avisado replaced DBM OIC Janet Abuel who took the rein after former DBM Sec. Ben Diokno was appointed as governor of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea confirmed Avisado’s appointment Monday afternoon.
Avisado was President Duterte’s city administrator from 2004-2010 when he was still the mayor of Davao City. He is a lawyer by profession.
Avisado became assistant secretary of the Housing Urban Development Coordinating Council when it was headed by then Vice President Jejomar Binay.
Duterte and Avisado had some falling out after the latter decided to support Binay’s presidential bid over Duterte’s. But the two had since patched things up.
