When President Rodrigo Duterte said that people behind investment scams will be hunted like drug dealers, he meant it as it is.
Like drug pushers, people who entice investors on something they know is illegal ab initio (from the beginning) know that what they are doing is against the law.
Like shabu, cocaine, marijuana and other illegal drugs, money, i.e. easy money, is also highly-addictive. Who could not resist an illegal investment scheme that turns your P1,000 to P6,000?
And like illegal drugs, the effect of easy and huge money returns is euphoric bordering to anarchy. One feels invincible and above the law when high on drugs, the same is true with people high on money.
You don’t believe me? Just look at the viral video showing investors breaking the glass door of a mall in Tagum City as they are excited for their payout.
So to those who are maligning President Rodrigo Duterte now for his decision to run against illegal investment schemes, know that you are not on your right mind at the moment.
