Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is in Davao City today, January 15, to personally appear in court for his arraignment.
Arriving in Davao at around 5:40am onboard Philippine Airlines flight PR2809, Trillanes is expected to appear before the sala of Judge Melinda Alconcel-Dayanghirang of the Davao City Regional Trial Court Branch 54.
Trillanes is facing libel charges filed by presidential son Paolo Duterte and presidential son-in-law Manases Carpio.
After his arraignment, the senator will fly back to Manila onboard PAL flight PR2822 scheduled to take off at 5:35 pm.
The Davao City Council, last year, declared Senator Trillanes “persona non grata” after the lawmaker called President Rodrigo Duterte’s hometown the most dangerous city in the Philippines.
The council approved the resolution filed by Vice Mayor Bernard Al-ag on February 13, 2018.
