Authorities have cancelled the tsunami advisory earlier raised by Phivolcs and the Office of Civil Defense as an aftermath of the 7.1 magnitude quake that struck the Davao Region Saturday morning.
The cancellation came just few hours after its issuance. Based on the observations, only a maximum height of 0.08 meter was recorded by the sea level monitoring station in Mati, Davao Oriental.
Authorities said that as of 1:10 p.m., the sea level has returned to normal thus the cancellation of the tsunami warning.
Among those who evacuated to safe grounds were the children of President Rodrigo Duterte and their families who were spending time in Dahican when the tremor hit.
On his Facebook account, Paolo Duterte said they were forcibly ordered to evacuate and were readily flown out of Mati and have safely arrived in Mati Saturday afternoon.
