The Ombudsman has found former Davao Oriental Board Member Consuelo Palma Gil-Roflo guilty of graft and corruption and estafa thru falsification of public documents.
In a 185-page decision penned by presiding Justice Amparo Cabotaje-Tang, the Ombudsman sentenced Palma Gil-Roflo 6-10 years imprisonment for each count of the five graft cases filed against her.
The daughter of former Davao Oriental Gov. Ma. Elena Palma Gil was also sentenced to 6-8 years imprisonment for each of the 5 counts of estafa thru falsification of public documents filed against her.
Aside from Roflo, also sentenced to imprisonment were Jerico Ebita, Norman Doral, Derrick Andrade, Sergio Andrade and Chona Andrade Tolentino.
The five were found guilty of conniving with the accused official and were meted with the same penalty as Roflo’s.
The six accused were also ordered to reimburse the government of about P349,250 they were paid for without rendering service.
The six are also perpetually disqualified from holding public office.
The case stemmed from the accusation of a radio broadcaster that Roflo hired ghost employees when she was a board member.
