Even as private citizen, Bong Go to continue public service

Even though Christopher Lawrence “Kuya Bong” Go is no longer a government official, he will continue to provide assistance as a private citizen. This was the assurance he gave to the more than 100 families who were affected by the recent fire in Barangay 105, Happyland Tondo, Manila.

Kuya Bong Go said that aside from the help he and his friends from private sectors brought for the victims, he will also assist in following up with the government agencies that can provide further assistance to the affected families.

“Andirito po ako bilang isang private citizen. Tutulong ako sa pag-follow up sa usual na binibigay na tulong ng ating gobyerno — mula sa DOH (Department of Health), DSWD (Departement of Social Welfare and Development) at mga pabahay mula sa NHA (National Housing Authority), tutulong po tayo,” he said during an ambush interview.

Aside from the relief assistance, Go also committed to provide uniforms for children and worker victims.

As part of the ‘Sapatos ni SAP, Tsinelas Ka-Swap’ program, he personally exchanged his pair of rubber shoes to one of the fire victims who lost most of his belongings due to the incident.

He also encouraged the affected individuals who are in need of medical attention especially the senior citizens to avail of services from the Malasakit Center.

Papasamahan ko po kayo,” Go said.

(We have a Malasakit Center in PGH [Philippine General Hospital]. To those who are in need of medical attention, you may go there.)

The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop program of President Duterte to hasten the delivery of medical services and give poor patients access to free medicine. A fast lane prioritizing the senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) will also be available.

Go said the government plans to launch more Malasakit Centers nationwide to make free quality healthcare more accessible to all Filipinos

Kuya Bong Go assured the Filipinos that even if he is no longer officially at the side of President Duterte, he will remain as SAP, but not as Special Assistant to the President, instead he will be the Special Assistant to the People — bringing help and assistance to every Filipino who is in need wherever, whenever in the best that he can as a private citizen.

Kuya Bong also encouraged ordinary citizens to be charitable, and extend their assistance to the public, “Mga kababayan natin yan, mga Pilipino yan, tulungan natin. Kahit sino pwedeng tumulong,” Go reminded the people.
