Camp Sgt. Quintin Merecido, Buhangin, Davao City– At around 8:20 A.M. today, the Intel Operatives of Carmen Municipal Police Station together with the elements of Davao del Norte Provincial Mobile Force Battalion (DNPMF) responded to an informant who saw two (2) persons who were allegedly seen carrying firearm tucked in their waist that led to the arrest of the suspects.
Suspects were identified as ALCHEL TINAY VIVAS, 36 years old, married, an alleged Security Guard of Prime Citadel Agency, Inc. and a resident of El Carmen, Matina, Davao City and; JOSE MARLITO MOAÑA HAYAG, 39 years old, single, an alleged Security Guard of Prime Citadel Agency, Inc and a resident of Purok 9, Brgy. Manat, Nabunturan, Comval Province.
The two were arrested by the responding team after the suspects failed to present pertinent legal documents in relation to their firearms ownership or possession as well as the permit to carry firearms outside residence and license to own and possess firearms.
Recovered from the possession and control of VIVAS was one home made Smith and Wesson revolver caliber .357 bearing serial number partly defaced ending with 463 loaded with Six (6) caliber .357 ammunitions, while recovered from the possession and control of Hayag was one Armscor revolver bearing serial number 32329 loaded with five (5) caliber .38 ammunitions.
Apprehended persons and pieces of evidence are now in the custody of Carmen MPS for subssequent turn over to Crime Laboratory for Ballistic Forensic Examination and proper disposition. More so, they will be facing charges in violations of the provisions of RA 10591 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Firearmes and Ammunitions Law.
According to PCSupt Marcelo C Morales, Regional Director, that Police Regional Office 11 will continue with our mandate to run after those illegal owners/holders of unlicensed and unregistered firearms to intensify our campaign against loose firearms and in curbing gun-related crimes and establishing effective firearms control as election is coming near.
