Presidential son Paolo Duterte files another libel suit against Senator Antonio Trillanes IV before the Davao City Prosecutors Office Wednesday, September 19.
This time around, the two counts of libel stemmed from the senator’s statements during an interview over television networks ABS-CBN and CNN Philippines where Trillanes accused the young Duterte of being involved in the illegal drug smuggling.
In his affidavit complaint, Paolo Duterte submitted the testimonies of TV hosts Anthony Taberna, Pinky Webb, and four others who witnessed the time when Trillanes accused the complainant of illegal drugs smuggling on June 6 and June 14 interviews.
The TV utterances of Trillanes no longer falls under the ambit of parliamentary immunity of the senator thus he can be sued, Duterte said.
This is the third case filed by Paolo Duterte against Trillanes. And more are expected if Trillanes keeps accusing the Dutertes of unfounded claims all under the guise of doing his parliamentary duties.
