The City Government of Davao will provide cash assistance to the local governments of areas hard-hit by Typhoon Ompong over the weekend.
This is apart from the 10,000 food packs that the city has started sending to areas devastated by the typhoon.
The Davao City Council approved Tuesday, during suspended rules, the resolution authorizing Mayor Inday Sara Duterte to utilize a portion of the 30-percent Quick Response Fund (QRF) ā out of the five percent Disaster Risk Education and Management Fund or Calamity Fund of the City Government of Davao for calendar year 2018 ā to provide aid to at least eight areas.
The recipient-LGUs are Mayoyao, Ifugao and the Provinces of Cagayan Valley, Isabela, Benguet, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Kalinga and Tugegarao City, which were all declared under state of calamity.
The municipality of Mayoyao will receive a cash donation of P500,000 pesos while the rest will be given P1 million each.
Early on, Lawyer Raul Nadela, Jr., Mayor Inday’s Chief of Staff, said that the city will be giving 10,000 packs of relief goods containing rice, canned goods, water and hygiene kits to the affected areas. CIO
