A radio station manager and his news director were arrested during an entrapment operation by the National Bureau of Investigation in General Santos City Tuesday afternoon, September 18.
The arrested suspects were identified as Bombo Radyo GenSan station manager Jonathan Macailing and his news director Salvador Galano.
The two were entrapped by the NBI around three in the afternoon inside a mall in GenSan.
Complainant Joel Apolinario, founder of an investment company called KAPA, claimed that the broadcasters were demanding P10 million from him so that the radio station would stop criticizing the investment firm.
Apolinario alleged that he initially gave P400,000 to the suspects so that the station would stop hitting on his company.
A week after, Apolinario claimed, they again demanded money from him this time in the amount of P10 million.
Apolinario met the two inside the mall where he allegedly handed an initial payment of P5 million. The NBI agents readily arrested the two broadcasters.
The two suspects however denied the accusation saying that they refused to receive the bribe money and were about to leave the meeting place when they were arrested by the NBI.
