JOLO, SULU — Hugpong ng Pagbabago Officers headed by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Thursday flew to Jolo, Sulu to personally deliver a total of P5 million aid to the victims of the recent fire that affected over 20,000 individuals.
Sara was accompanied by Gov. Claude Bautista of Davao Occidental and Gov. Anthony Del Rosario of Davao Del Norte.
The money, which may be used to fund the construction of homes for the fire victims, was pooled by Davao Region local government units — Davao City and the provinces of Davao Occidental, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, and Compostela Valley.
Each LGU gave P1 million from their respective calamity funds to make the P5 million aid.
The assistance was handed over to Jolo Mayor Kerkher Tan. It was witnessed by Sulu Vice Gov. Hja. Nurunisah Abubakar Tan, former Gov. Dr. Sakur Tan and public officials of Jolo and Sulu.
“Davao Region will always be a friend to everybody — without distinction and political color,” Mayor Inday Sara said.
The HNP officers also brought school bags with school supplies for some of the children fire victims.
