SAP Bong Go welcomes Filipino repatriates from Indonesia, handed over financial assistance to start anew

Finally, after more than 16 months as a detainee in Indonesia for illegally entering the Indonesian waters, Randy Capricho, one of 31 Filipino repatriates, came home to his family on April 20, 2018. He considers this as his second chance in life after escaping trial for what he did.

It was November 28, 2016 when Capricho was arrested in the middle of Indonesian waters. Capricho’s wife, Marjuri had to take care of their three children and herself while pregnant with their youngest child. On the day Capricho arrived back to the Philippine shores, the family immediately spent quality time by shopping and had dinner in a shopping mall in Davao City.

Following his arrival in Davao City, Capricho was one of the Filipino repatriates who were received by Sec. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go during the welcoming program for the repatriated Filipinos on April 20, 2019 in Camp Feranil Pier, Naval Station Felix Apolinario, Panacan, Davao City.

Sec. Bong Go personally handed the cash assistance to the thirty-one (31) repatriated Filipinos from Indonesia together with other government agencies such as Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Agriculture (DA), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

During the welcoming program, Marjuri expressed her gratitude to Sec. Bong Go for the kindness and support he has given to them as a family.

“…Kay sir Bong po malaking pasasalamat po namin kase hindi namin ineexpect na binigyan po kami ng ganito po na sabi nya sa amin kanina na –bago kami umuwi itour po muna kami ditto tapos ano, malaking pasasalamt talaga,” Marjuri Capricho said.

Being moved by this testimony, Secretary Go vowed to continue the efforts to expedite repatriation processes of Filipino fishermen detained in Indonesia by initiating talks and recommending issues to different agencies and even to the President Duterte.

Sec. Bong Go said, “I will find more solutions to address this matter. Para sa lahat ng Pilipino, lalung lalo na sa mga kababayan natin nan aka-detain sa Indonesia, huwag kayong mawalan ng pag-asa. Nandito ang gobyerno para tulungan kayo.”
